Privacy Fences

While privacy fences can provide security and decoration, contain young children and pets, and designate a boundary, the predominant function is to create a visual barrier between what’s on your side of a property and the other side. They can vary in height and come in a variety of designs and materials. Privacy Fences PDF

Wooden privacy fences are available in a number of designs with vertical pickets that are installed edge to edge with no space for zero visibility or with a tiny space between pickets for a minimum of visibility. A number of wood varieties can be used, but pressure-treated southern yellow pine is the most common and cost effective.

PVC or vinyl privacy fences are becoming increasingly popular because of their rugged durability. While a wood fence can last a decade or more if well maintained, PVC fencing can remain standing as long as the dwelling it surrounds. Like wood, PVC fences can also be designed in a number of styles.

Color-Enhanced PVC

Because white PVC fencing cannot be painted, many customers now opt for color-enhanced PVC. Also available with textured finishes to mimic natural materials like wood and stone, the pigment in color-enhanced PVC is impregnated into the vinyl itself for color that lasts as long the fence.

Composite fencing looks and feels like wood, but is generally manufactured from two or more dissimilar recycled materials like plastic fibers and wood pulp. Like PVC, composite fences are durable, available in a number of colors and textures and can be erected in a number of designs.
